Meyer, Stephanie. Twilight. New York: Little, Brown and Company, 2005.
Twilight is the beginning of a series about Bella Swan and the love of her life Edward. She moves to the small town of Forks to live with her father Charlie. It’s small, cold, and rainy, the epitome of everything she hates. Then she sees the Cullen family, the towns favorite gossip. They are all beautiful, all adopted by Carlisle, and all dating each other; except for Edward, the youngest son. She becomes fascinated with him and his strange behavior. He goes from being angry and distant one day to being her own personal shadow the next, and when he saves her from a car by holding it back with his bare hands she knows he is not human. With some help from her friend Jacob Black she comes to discover that Edward and his family are vampires, but by then its too late because she is already irrevocably in love with him. Stephanie Meyer introduces each character in a way that lets the reader see exactly what kind of person they are and feel like they know them. The way she writes makes it an easy read but all the detail she uses keeps the story interesting. I would definitely recommend this book, it’s a great story of romance and adventure but because of the story plot its aimed for teenage girls.
